My approach to therapy emphasizes a genuine presence and warmth. I believe an authentic relationship between therapist and client must be present before theory or technique can be effective. I believe cultivating compassion, curiosity and non-judgment creates a safe place for the healing process to begin.
In my work with clients, I incorporate humor, spirituality, and creativity. I teach mindfulness techniques that increase our awareness of mind/body interactions and how negative thoughts impact our emotional and physical health. I've also learned how to help people navigate their relationship to addictive substances/behaviors.
